Victoria Nyanza Sailing Club
Since 1935, VNSC members have been sailing the waters of Lake Victoria just outside of Kampala, Uganda.
Whether you are a competitive, leisure, or aspiring sailor, VNSC has everything you need. The club has a great tradition in competitive sailing, while Lake Victoria is a beautiful setting for a more leisurely outing. VNSC offers several sailing courses for adults throughout the year, and regular kids’ courses. VNSC is the perfect place to learn sailing, with its moderate winds, warm water and focus on good sailing.
The winds at Kaazi are perfect for both a beginner and advanced sailor. In the morning, winds are usually low and in the afternoon the winds may reach 12-15 knots and are ideal for racing.
The VNSC has a busy sailing calendar, with a club regatta every Sunday afternoon and social sailing every Saturday. VNSC hosts the Uganda Laser Open each year at the first weekend of March.

Visit the Club
Interested to do some sailing or camping? VNSC is open to guest visitors on the weekends. Experienced sailors can rent a Laser for social sailing or to join one of our weekly regattas held every Sunday afternoon! Visitors can also camp at the club. Guest fees apply.

Learn to Sail
Not yet a sailor? Every quarter VNSC runs a Beginners Course that teaches a cohort of 10-15 people how to sail. Over two weekends, you will learn the basic skills of sailing. Included in the course fee is a three-month membership so you can continue enjoying the club facilities.

Kids Sailing
VNSC offers fun kids sailing group lessons every 4-6 weeks to teach young people how to sail. The training boat of choice is the world famous optimist, suitable for children up to 15 years old and/or 45 kilos. Young sailors can also sign up for on-demand coaching sessions every Saturdays to hone their skills.

Sail in the ULO
VNSC is the host of the Uganda Laser Open (ULO), our biggest annual regatta that brings together sailors for a weekend of racing and fun at Lake Victoria. The ULO offers great competition for all skill levels - last year we had 40 competitors from 6 countries, including Olympian Micky Beckett and some of our VNSC beginner course graduates who had learned to sail only three months prior!
